Cruise Description |
7 Night Cruise sailing from Greenock to Oban aboard Hebridean Princess.
Arts and Architecture interest cruise.
Soak up stunning coastal vistas and absorb the Clyde region's most treasured historic houses and castles during unforgettable visits ashore. Evoking mystery and romance, these architectural gems hide secrets of an often turbulent past. Rounding Kintyre, an island distillery, colourful garden and rugged island also await.
The picturesque waters of Loch Fyne transport us to the late 18th century mansion of Strachur House, home of Sir Charles and Lady Maclean. Generally considered to be Sir Robert Lorimer's masterpiece, Ardkinglas House is situated against a spectacular background of hills and forests.
Discover the fairytale Inveraray Castle, home of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of the Clan Campbell. The current castle was designed by Roger Morris and decorated by Robert Mylne. Sail to Largs for our visit to Ardgowan House. Built in the 18th century, the 76 room Palladian mansion has been the ancestral seat of the Shaw Stewart family for 800 years.
Steaming to the Victorian town of Rothesay, we tour Mount Stuart House, testament to the 3rd Marquess of Bute. An eclectic mix of architectural styles. Mount Stuart was the first house in Scotland to be wired for electricity.
Enter an 18th century time-capsule at Dumfries House, built by brothers John and Robert Adam. Here we have the full day to explore and enjoy lunch, before rounding the Mull of Kintyre en route to the whisky isle of Islay.
Lagavulin is thought to be one of the longest established distilleries in the country, here we watch the master distillers at work and sample the complex, rich, peaty Malt Whisky. Embrace the springtime glory of Arduaine Garden, high above Loch Melfort, and onwards to lush Kerrera for tranquil walks, before arriving in Oban. |
