Cruise Description |
7 Night Cruise sailing from Oban roundtrip aboard Hebridean Princess.
Garden interest cruise.
As the spring colours explode into vibrant life, visit some of the most spectacular and alluring gardens in the British Isles - gardens warmed by the Gulf Stream with deep, rich, acidic soils that support a matchless variety and richness of plants.
Ardmaddy Castle Gardens are shielded to the north by mature woodlands, full of magnificent rhododendrons and rare shrubs. Arduaine is an exotic garden full of colour and fragrance, evoking glamorous destinations.
On a remote hillside on the northwest coast of Mull, appreciate the idiosyncrasy of one woman's astonishing personal achievement at Lip na Claiche, a self-made garden in a remote location. Later, the romantic ruins of Armadale Castle beckon. Here magnificent 200-year old trees tower above stunning displays of orchids and wild flowers.
Onwards to the skillfully restored Attadale Gardens where 20 acres of water gardens and ancient paths winding through woodlands contrast with an impressive collection of well-hidden sculptures scattered throughout.
Little Loch Broom is home to the ancient walled garden at Dundonnell House which boasts a restored Edwardian glasshouse, riverside walk and arboretum. The coastal garden at neighbouring Durnamuck offers a rich mix of herbaceous borders, trees and shrubs, wild meadow and stunning views.
At Loch Ewe wo visit the lush oasis of Inverewe Garden, a paradise of 2.500 exotic sub-tropical species, before steering the north coast of Skye bound for Loch Dunvegan.
Dunvegan Castle's five acres of formal gardens began life in the 18th century and form a stark contrast to the rugged landscape in which they sit. |
