Cruise Description |
7 Night Cruise sailing from Oban roundtrip aboard Hebridean Princess.
World Heritage interest cruise.
Made up of five islands and three stacs, the mysterious archipelago of St Kilda is the UK's only double UNESCO World Heritage Site. Few experiences can match the thrill of the sea stacks as they loom from the mist on the horizon or the profound sense of abandonment of this far-flung isle.
We plot a course for Colonsay House where the magnificent 20 acre rhododendron and woodland garden contains many rare trees and shrubs. Onwards to lona where the restored Benedictine Abbey allows for peaceful reflection.
Visit the Skerryvore Lighthouse Museum on Tiree, to find out how the heroic engineers and keepers built and maintained Scotland's tallest lighthouse, on one of Britain's most dangerous rocks, over 10 nautical miles out to sea.
Few sights can compare with the bird cliffs of Boreray and Stac Lee emerging on the horizon to the echoing cries of seabirds as we approach Hirta, the jewel in St Kilda's crown. As the cleits and grazing Soay sheep come into view, we go ashore to explore the abandoned village.
Cruising past the mysterious Flannan Isles, wo arrive in Stornoway to wonder at the awe-inspiring Callanish Standing Stones, and the well-preserved, 2,000-year-old Carloway Broch. Discover how the diversity of the Outer Hebrides is shaped by a unique combination of land, sea and people at the Lews Castle Museum.
We make landfall on Skye at the bustling capital of Portree before pausing awhile at neighbouring Raasay to taste a wee dram at the first legal distillery on the island. Our final ports of call are the Small Isle of Muck and the beautiful ancient oak woodlands at Salen. |
