9 Night Cruise sailing from Invergordon to Oban aboard Hebridean Princess.
The Arts Society guest speaker cruise.
The voyage from the east coast home to Oban offers a unique view of the untamed, rugged beauty of the northern Caithness and Sutherland seaboard, the gems of mainland Orkney and a kaleidoscope of treasure of the Hebrides. Be inspired by the magic and myth, the sights and sounds of Scotland's far north.
Set sail from Invergordon, Orkney bound. Relics from WWII, the Churchill Barriers and Italian Chapel were constructed by prisoners of war from Camp 60. Viking Earl Magnus Erlendsson's St Magnus Cathedral is a haven of peace in bustling Kirkwall. The myriad prehistoric Neolithic sites which have survived to tell their tale at the 'Heart of Neolithic Orkney' UNESCO world heritage site are both spectacular and mysterious.
Returning to the mainland we visit the Castle of Mey. former retreat of the late Queen Mother, providing His Majesty is not in residence, before rounding Cape Wrath to Lochinver where Highland Stoneware produce handmade pottery inspired by the local landscapes. Cruise the breathtaking black, basalt cliffs of the Shiant Isles and enjoy the thrill of a beach landing.
Discover history and heritage on an island tour of Harris with a demonstration of traditional weaving methods used to create the exclusive Harris Tweed. Contrast the modern distillery dedicated to making beautiful island spirits with pride and provenance. Explore Dunvegan Castle, home to the chiefs of Clan Macleod for over 800 years, and uncover secrets of ancient history on North Uist.
Cross The Minch to the Small Isles of Canna and Rum ahead of our final forays ashore at Resipole Studios, the fine art gallery, and Isle of Mull Cheese where traditional cheeses are made by hand. |
