Cruise Description |
7 Night Cruise sailing from Oban to Greenock aboard Hebridean Princess.
World Heritage interest cruise with guest speaker.
On this spellbinding cruise south from Oban, Hebridean Princess leaves the Hebrides in her wake, follows in the footsteps of the giant, Finn McCool and enjoys the more sheltered waters of the Clyde Estuary. Beautiful in all seasons, these wonderful landscapes are steeped in history and romance.
Steaming south from Oban we land on Jura for walks in this haven for wildlife where red deer outnumber humans. The Emerald Isle is calling and we follow in the footsteps of Finn McCool, to the 40,000 basalt columns tumbling into the Atlantic Ocean, forming the spectacular Giant’s Causeway.
A privately owned island of 400 acres, picturesque Sanda plays host to refreshing walks. Enter an 18th century time-capsule at Dumfries House where we can appreciate the architecture of Robert Adam with the furniture of Thomas Chippendale. Savour the delights of this now resplendent 18th century stately home, before enjoying the formal gardens and woodland country park surrounding the grand baronial castle at Brodick.
Sail to Largs for our visit to the Palladian mansion of Ardgowan House, ancestral seat of the Shaw Stewart family for 800 years. Built in 1263, Hunterston is one of the very few castles in Scotland that still belongs to the original family, the Clan Hunter. The tower house was replaced in 1799 by Hunterston House.
Mount Stuart House stands testament to the 3rd Marquess of Bute. An eclectic mix of architectural styles, it was the first house in Scotland to be wired for electricity. Set in 500 acres of ancient woodland and mature gardens overlooking the Clyde, a warm welcome awaits at Finlaystone House. |
