Cruise Description |
7 Night Cruise sailing from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh aboard Lord of the Highlands.
Join Lord of the Highlands to transit Telford’s remarkable Caledonian Canal through the rugged valleys and dramatic scenery of the Great Glen, a geological fault line which shaped the landscape of the region. Onwards to discover the pearls of the Inner Isles of Mull, Iona, Eigg and Skye on this enchanting voyage.
Discover the traditional castle built and inhabited by the Cawdor family for over 600 years; an ancient medieval tower constructed around a legendary holly tree and set in three very different gardens, before setting sail on the Caledonian Canal, built between 1803 and 1822 to connect the Great Glen’s four lochs.
Descend Neptune’s Staircase, a set of eight interconnected locks dropping 19 metres into the sea lock at Corpach and visit the iconic monument honouring the fallen Jacobite clansmen at Glenfinnan, framed by spectacular Highland scenery.
Sail Loch Linnhe to Oban for a walking tour which takes in the panoramic vistas from McCaig’s Tower, an architectural folly inspired by the Colosseum in Rome. From Craignure on Mull travel to the sacred isle of Iona to relish the tranquility of the restored Benedictine abbey.
Later, we explore the island capital of Tobermory where brightly painted houses line the waterfront and stretch our legs on the Small Isle of Eigg, a community owned island dominated by the dramatic pitchstone ridge of An Sgùrr.
Trace the legacy of Clan Donald at the Museum of The Isles housed in the grounds of Armadale Castle ahead of our final port of call, the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet. |
